1940, in a village in the Lyon region. Gaëlle de Barbet witnesses the horrified arrest of her best friend by the French police and sees the German commander requisition the family home. His father is killed by the occupier and his mother gradually sinks into madness.
Gaëlle then engaged body and soul in the Resistance and saved many Jewish children from the clutches of the Nazis. At the end of the war, wrongly accused of having collaborated, she left to try her luck in Paris. Years later, her granddaughter fights her own fight for Gaëlle to be recognized as the war heroine she was in her youth ...
